Two different questions
Registration data is not domain availability.
The tools may use the same domain name as input, but they answer different questions and have different authorities.
Availability search
Asks whether a supported domain can currently be ordered and what registration, premium, eligibility, and pricing rules apply. The client portal and its connected registrar control this answer.
Search domain availabilityRDAP lookup
Requests public registration information for an existing domain from the service listed in IANA’s RDAP bootstrap registry. Data varies and may be redacted.
No result
Means only that useful public data was not returned. The TLD may be unsupported, the service may be unavailable, or no record may have been found. It is never proof that the domain can be purchased.
Privacy by reduction
Show operational facts, not a raw registration dossier.
Doory extracts only the fields useful for understanding a domain’s public operational record. Raw registrant entities are neither displayed nor stored in the result cache.
Registrar, dates, domain statuses, nameservers, DNSSEC state, authoritative source, lookup time, and redaction notices appear only when supplied. Personal addresses, phone numbers, emails, and raw entity records are intentionally omitted.

Does a missing RDAP record mean a domain is available?
No. A missing, unsupported, timed-out, or incomplete registration-data result does not establish availability. Use Doory’s domain availability search and connected registrar for an ordering decision.
Why is registrant information missing or redacted?
Public fields vary according to registry and registrar policy, applicable law, registrant type, and redaction practices. Doory intentionally does not display personal contact entities from raw RDAP responses.
Is the displayed expiration date the date I can buy the domain?
No. Expiration can be followed by auto-renew, grace, redemption, deletion, auction, restoration, or other registry and registrar processes. The displayed date is not a promise of public availability.
What happened to WHOIS?
RDAP is the modern structured registration-data protocol. The page uses the familiar phrase WHOIS / RDAP Lookup because many people still search for WHOIS, but requests are made through RDAP.
